If you've been running into problems trying to use the IRS's online tool for tracking your coronavirus stimulus check or setting up direct deposit so the government's one-time payment goes right into your bank account, you're not alone. It's been well documented in CNET comments, news articles and on Twitter that the IRS portal, called Get My Payment, doesn't always work for everyone. We wanted to find out why, and how you can try to bypass any roadblocks.
If you're not able to use the Get My Payment tool for whatever reason, you'll be receiving your check by mail instead of via direct deposit, a process that the government said could take up to 20 weeks. The first checks went out in the mail about two weeks ago. If you haven't received your stimulus check yet, filing through the IRS tool could still get you your money faster. Here's how you can check with the USPS when you'll get your payment in the mail.
