Fender's Pawn Store series are - within their own terms - "guitars that never were but should have been". The concept seems to be that these designs are influenced by weird previous modified guitars that you may find in a pawn shop. Hence we find different pickup mixtures and trem systems and variants on design that you wouldn't be prepared to see on share Fender guitars. In some cases, the Fender Pawn Store guitars exceed such minor adjustments and we observe alterations to real body styles, e.g. the Mustang Particular includes a re-designed chunkier physique, the '72 is essentially a Thinline Strat, and the Offset Special is similar to a Thinline Strat with an offset waist and built with a Jaguar/Jazzmaster tremolo. The model that I really was interested in, however, was the Fender Pawn Shop Bass VI. I am hankering after a Bass VI for years.

Other than that, it's a pretty faithful reproduction of the initial. The throat is unbound, but not all the "originals" got bound necks anyway. Interestingly the headstock bears the legend "Fender VI" (as applied to the 1st Bass VIs as opposed to the later "Fender Bass VI") with "Electric Bass Guitar" in smaller sized lettering beneath. Area of the cause that I needed a Bass VI was so as to encourage me to play even more melodic parts and lead lines, as frequently in a band circumstance I find myself ending up playing rhythm guitar which - although I am pleased to do - I'd like my talk about of the limelight too.
